Bio
“Alex Walsh makes music the old-fashioned way -- warm and witty and straight from the heart.”
-- Joel Selvin, San Francisco Chronicle
Award-winning songwriter Alex Walsh hones his American roots, rock and pop sound on his third solo effort "Take Me Back to the Country." Long a figure on the Bay Area music scene Walsh has appeared at the Paradise Lounge, The Owl and Monkey, and The Bazaar Café, among many other venues performing solo and with the bands Q, the Honeysticks, the Young Blue Bucks, the Apparitions, and the Chocolate Blockhead Band. Having toured Canada, Paris and Barcelona, he performed at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. for the "Million Worker March" and garnered a best-song award at a West Coast Songwriters showcase. In 2000, Walsh released the lo-fi acoustic recording "Antique Dreams & Collectible Pleasures" followed with 2003's "Light Another Candle" which was picked up by Optic Noise for use in film and television. Informed by the hopes, dreams and reality of true love, Walsh's 2007 independent release "Take Me Back to the Country" takes listeners on a sonic journey over a landscape of blues, pop, Texas swing, African Hi-life and psychedelic.
